There’s a LOT of special classical music (and dance) going on around town in the coming days – too much to regurgitate complete details about here. So let me do it via the magic of internet links:

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra has a spiffy family concert slated for tomorrow (Saturday) morning: “CSO goes to the Olympics” – with lots of catchy, celebratory music by John Williams and others. And don’t forget their next Masterworks event on February 7, featuring emerging violin star Giora Schmidt – and Beethoven’s evergreen fifth symphony. Get full details right HERE.

Speaking of violin stars, I’m also terribly excited about the Charleston Concert Association’s next event, on Monday, Feb 2: Fab Fiddler Joshua Bell – a bona fide SUPERstar – will appear in recital, along with pianist Jeremy Denk. Read all about it HERE.

As for EYEgasms (– assuming you like to look at beautiful, athletic gals and guys in tights!), you’re not too late to catch the Charleston Ballet Theatre’s ongoing run of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves – with four performances scheduled from tonight through Sunday. Go HERE to figure out which one fits into your schedule.

I almost forgot to tell you about the Mendelssohn 200th Birthday Concert of Organ Works — to be performed by 8 of Charleston’s finest organists in a free concert on Tuesday, February 3 at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting (at Tradd) in downtown Charleston. This concert, co-sponsored by the Charleston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is at 7:00 pm and open to the public. Performing the complete organ works by Mendelssohn are organists Dr. William Gudger, Dr. Scott Bennett, Dr. JeeYoon Choi, Dr. Julia Harlow, Professor Robert Glick, Eric Holderman, Greg Homza, George Hubbard, and Lee Kohlenberg. ENJOY!!
