It’s hard to believe it’s over — that it’s been over, for more than a week. It seems like a rich, juicy dream of musical gluttony. But it must’ve happened: I emerged from my usual semi-comatose post-Spoleto state this morning to find my own festival music overview on the streets in today’s City Paper (and also online — right HERE).

Funny, I can hardly remember writing it. Spoleto’s sensory overload will do that to you. But it was my blessed good fortune to catch almost all of the important stuff this time ’round — and my succinct summary of this year’s musical treasures is as thorough a wrap-up as any you’ll find. Want more details? Just scroll down. It’s all there.

Oh — I’ve gotten my marching orders, and I’m happy to report that Eargasms will indeed continue as the City Paper’s year-round classical music blog, covering the richest musical scene in the state (… and one of the richest anywhere, for a town of Charleston’s size). I count it a personal honor (and sacred duty … remember, I’m a musical missionary) to be your chief blogger. Robert Bondurant will continue to contribute, and I hope to enlist the services of other varied and knowledgeable guest bloggers. Otherwise, I can’t tell you how Eargasms will evolve … there’s too much brainstorming and experimenting yet to be done.

So, dear blogophile, please let us know how we’re doing — and what you would like Eargasms to be for you. Talk to us. ‘Cause it’s YOU we’re doing it all for.
