I take seriously my promise to alert you to impending festival eargasms of particularly promising intensity – so, kindly listen up:

If you like fancy fiddling and soulful support at the keyboard, show up at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Synagogue (90 Hasell St.) – Sunday, June 3 at 6:00 p.m. As part of Piccolo Spoleto’s “World of Jewish Culture” series, you’ll hear a spiffy program consisting of works by Copland, Bloch, Achron, Gershwin and Kreisler. Performing will be violinist (and Charleston Symphony Concertmaster) Yuriy Bekker, backed up at the piano by none other than Chucktown favorite Andrew Armstrong.

So how do I know they’re good? Well, they showed up at my Millennium Music classical room last night (I have a small Steinway there) and ran through their entire program for a handful of lucky people. Besides, I know both of these terrific musicians well. I’ll get to hear the program twice, as it’s an assigned review for me. Funny, but I think I already know how that one’s gonna read.
